Growing purse collection

I decided pretty much as soon as I got my sewing machine that I wanted to make a purse, and after days of google searching tutorials and free patterns I came across the wildly popular Buttercup bag from Made By Rae. I ended up being super happy with the end product and have continued to make them as gifts and for myself. I even took the next step and bought the pattern from her etsy. (First etsy purchases for me as well!) Figured she deserved the credit, and it also came with a bigger size and the rights to sell. Thought that may be handy considering all the compliments I had received on my new creations. I also attempted my hand at making a clutch by following this tutorial. Aaaaaaanyways, on to the pictures ......

From the get go

I will start by adding pictures and links for the things i have made so far. Nothing fancy, or overly hard. This way I can avoid frustration and continue to enjoy sewing.

My first quest were simple dresses for my girls...made with a store bought pattern. Super simple, the girls love them, and I have made a few more as gifts.

Next were some sock monkeys made by following Web*goddess' wonderful tutorial.

Now comes my first blog inspired clothing task, a simple skirt. Credit goes to Two Little Banshees, for a super easy tutorial.

I used this tutorial by Three bears to make little boxy pouches to which I added some ribbon so i could attach it to my girls bikes so I wouldn't have to carry any more pine cones, rocks or other trinkets home.

Then my oldest daughter came home with a birthday invitation so I thought I would attempt to save some money and come up with something creative, A cape for a 4 year old boy.

By now I had accumulated quite a bit of scrap fabric that I couldn't just toss out so these are what I came up with. Something to cover my sewing machine, out of sight out of mind for little fingers. And a little ruby doll

With that I came across a wonderful pattern for purses, which I will make another post for since there are a few. And that brought me to halloween, a week before to be exact. I decided I wanted to make a mermaid tail for myself. This is what came about with a simplicity pattern.

That pretty much brings me up to date on my sewing. Now with Christmas right under foot I can't find time to look for another project, let alone have time to make one. Hopefully Santa brings me some nifty sewing/crafty things to occupy my time in the new year!

Gotta start somewhere

Well after many hours spent looking through other crafters blogs I figured it was time to start my own. A place for me to keep track of blogs I enjoy, post pictures of things i have tried, and whatever else comes to mind. Who knows if I will keep up with it, but that's what I said about my sewing machine...husband assumed the same...and I use it a lot, so we shall see!
